THE ASK

For this assignment I was tasked with creating a line of my own. Its purpose was to familiarize us with the reality of creating a successful clothing brand. From warehouse, shipping, staff costs to designing, promoting, and selling the garments.

Using the brand I’ve been personally working on (SoInLuv) as a blueprint, my partner Yusuff and I began intensive research on our brand identity. We sorted through current events as well as our own personal beliefs to come to a conclusion on as to who our audience is, and made our mission clear. We also began sorting through inspirations to give our audience a clear image of what SoInLuv is.

After narrowing our vision in on our brand identity, I created flats to preview our garments along with price charts to demonstrate clearly how we planned to make this line a reality.

  2. Strategic Planning – Mapping out the brand's goals, structure, pricing, and staffing in a realistic and scalable way.

  3. Creative Direction – Shaping the brand’s aesthetic, voice, and mission to build a cohesive and appealing identity.

  4. Financial Literacy – Budgeting, setting product prices, and planning staff compensation while maintaining profitability.

  5. Market Research – Analyzing competitors, target demographics, and market gaps to position the brand effectively.

  6. Presentation & Pitching Skills – Clearly communicating your brand’s concept, values, and business plan in a professional and convincing way.
