THE ASK

We were asked to choose a brand and a city to base a collaborative fashion collection on. The goal was to explore the essence of the chosen city and translate that into a cohesive design direction for the brand. I selected Reebok due to its authentic connection to streetwear and urban athletic style, and chose New York City because of its bold, hopeful, and hustle-driven energy. The final deliverables included a moodboard, color and icon research, original pattern designs (with alternate colorways), and garment mockups featuring those patterns.

The Process

I began by researching New York City’s culture, energy, and visual elements, then built a moodboard that captured its atmosphere—think bold street art, fast-paced movement, and diverse fashion. From there, I identified recurring colors and symbols found in the city’s visuals and used them to inspire original patterns. I created two colorways for each pattern to show versatility. Finally, I applied these designs to garments that aligned with Reebok’s style, creating a modern and city-inspired collaboration.

THE OUTCOME

Finally, I applied these patterns to eight different garments that I believed aligned with the direction I was taking this line. I aimed to create three garments each with unique designs that represented the different faces of NYC. I researched Reebok as well as the state of the fashion industry and consumer behavior to provide detailed and accurate information regarding sizes, materials, prices, and delivery dates to then pitch and present.
